Back. Again.

After a nearly year hiatus I am back. I am sorry I have abandoned you for so long, things got crazy and unfortunately this ended up at the bottoms of the list.  Sometime life takes you somewhere else and you lose track of the thing that adds a little extra happiness in your day, sharing the life that surrounds you. So why start blogging again?  After surviving  layoffs and complete reorganization at my job a few months back it made me take a step back and look at what has been going on over the course of a year. I quickly realized I needed to start my blog back up.  While I love what I do and have a passion for the direction of my career I needed my own creative outlet again.   I have taken the past few weeks to evaluate what I want to discuss, share, and experience with you. So for now, I will share everything, this won't turn into a strictly style, food, or music blog. It will be a blog for everything that makes me, me.  I promise to never leave you again unannounced and I hope that you will continue to follow me once again and experience my journey along with me.

I Might Be a Feminist?

During my week in Mexico, I had some time to read a book that has been on my list since the day it was released, Tina Fey's Bossypants. I cannot even begin to write a review worthy of this books awesomeness (yes it is a real word). I spent my time on the beach laughing through every chapter. Her sarcastic/witty humor clearly shines through while the book is part biography and part managerial guidance/life lessons.  Regardless of whether or not you agree with her views on politics or her feminist undertones throughout the book, there are wonderful takeaways on each step we take through life.  Even the boyfriend read it with me, he enjoyed it just as much as I did.  I also think he has a better understanding of women now.  Pick up a copy and let me know what you think.

Enjoy.

A Designer After a Girl's Heart.

Moschino is a designer after this girl's heart.  Their Spring/Summer Cheap & Chic collection is everything I love in my summer wardrobe.  It's bright colors, vibrant prints, print mixing, feminine silhouettes, and to top it off the fashion show is fun to watch.  Below are some of my favorite looks, along with the video of the show.

Enjoy.

Freelance Whales.

I've heard their music on the radio, cool commercials, and in stores that play the perfect music to create a primal shopping experience but never knew their name and who they were.  I present to you a band that meets Phoenix, Postal Service, Owl City, and Sufjan Stevens= Freelance Whales.  Below is the video from their most reconizable song, Hannah, but some other favorites include Generator, Great Estate,  and Broken Horse.

Enjoy.

The Great Escape

The beau and I set off for an adventure of a lifetime to a magical place called, Cancun.  It is a place where all your hopes of relaxation and rest come true, while simultaneously being one of the craziest clubs scenes.  We both work very "adult" jobs and have been recently been working extra hard (if we don't say so ourselves) so Cancun came at a perfect time.  So how was the trip you ask?
Starting off the trip was no walk on the beach.  A the plane ride for the beau was a little nerve racking, he might have aviophobia (fear of flying) luckily ESPN kept him busy on his own personal TV.

We waited in customs for over an hour (see enormous herd of people below). Lucky for us, we weren't in any rush.

But finally we made it to paradise where a hotel with a relaxation pool, a breathtaking beach, a great all inclusive lobby bar with a wonderful margaritas and mojitos, and of course great food awaited us.  The week was spent, sleeping, eating, drinking, reading, going to the beach, some swimming, and a little bit of shopping all with my favorite person.  You will see in our pictures that we didn't do much more than relax, and it was perfect.

Enjoy.

Royal Wedding Recap

This morning has been more lovely and perfect than I could have imagined.  So lets begin...

As guests arrived, it was a true spectacle with a guest list full of Royals and A listers, all dressed so beautifully with their over the top hats and full of excitement with what was about to happen.  Then arrived Prince Charles and Camila, who looked lovely and dapper, as always.  Wearing yellow,  the Queen wasn't going to go unnoticed on the historic day, and for recently turning 85 she looked great. Kate's sister, Pippa's, Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress was beautiful, classic, and fit like a glove-- no ugly bridesmaid dress here.

Then the dress we have all been waiting for, the Wedding Dress... A piece more beautiful than I could have imaged created by Sarah Burton, the designer for Alexander McQueen.  I am thrilled and stunned she designed the dress because as rumors swirled  I never thought Sarah Burton would have been the one because McQueen's line is more fashion forward than Kate's simplistic style.  Kate looked stunning in a dress modern, elegant, yet reminiscent of Grace Kelly's wedding dress, and still looked like of herself, with her signature hairstyle and makeup.

The ceremony was magical (and I am not one for long Church weddings).  Some of my favorite parts were, Prince Harry sneaking a peek as Kate walked down the isle and whispering to his bother possibly something along the lines "Just wait till you see here" as Prince William forced himself to look forward, William whispering how beautiful she looked as she arrived at the alter, hearing the crowd cheer inside the Abbey after they took their vows Kate flashed a huge smile, and their overall love and intimacy between William and Kate through the whole ceremony.

So far it has been truly magical.  More to come this afternoon as their wedding days come to an end.

For now enjoy.

Food Meets Fashion

During a major snack attack at work, I headed downstairs to the snack shop and found these sweet treats.

Best known for her preppy clothes in bright and prints Lilly Pulitzer has designed limited addition boxes for Barnum’s Animals to support the Urban Arts Partnership.  Want to find some near you?  Just click here.
